Locations
Italy, Forte dei Marmi
Another classic Russian summer holiday destination is Forte dei Marmi, on the north-west coast of Italy. It seems to be a town that only comes to life in the tourist season.
Croatia, Podstrana, Split
Summer teaching jobs in Croatia are great! At least mine were. Getting there and travelling around is not complicated- roads are not hugely busy and the airports are easily accessible.
Greece, Sani Resort
Sani Resort is popular with Russians, and perhaps outside Russia too, for its high quality service, accommodation and location- and child friendliness.
Warsaw through the eyes of our governor Simon
When working in Warsaw, or any part of Poland, in my opinion, it’s almost impossible not to be touched by history. Poland itself, the culture, mentality, everything has been shaped by historical events such as World War II and communism. This is evident in the statues.
Mumbai through the eyes of our governess Rhona
I'm Rhona, I'm Irish and have worked with Valentin and English Nanny Agency as a Governess for almost 10 years. In that time I have been placed with great families in various locations around the world, that include, Moscow, Helsinki, London, Greece, Turkey, India and Prague.
Prague through the eyes of our governess Rhona

Geneva through the eyes of our governor Firmin
Geneva is a great place to work. The atmosphere is reserved, conservative, but with a very sporty streak. The opportunities for sport are almost unlimited, but more on that later. I was lucky enough to find my job their through Valentin Grogol and his team at English Nanny.
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk through the eyes of our governess Kirsten
This is a beautiful island in between Russia’s mainland and Japan. I lived in a new village just outside the expat complex. The community is made up of many nationalities working in the oil industry and the site has an English school for all their children. There are many social activities and opportunities, for example, an on-site sports centre with a swimming pool and a bar/restaurant.
Krasnoyarsk through the eyes of our Governess Sarah.
Krasnoyarsk is a south-central Siberian city with a population of over 1 million people. It is set on the very wide and fast flowing Yenisey River. It forms an important part of the trans Siberia railway, which is the longest single rail system in Russia, stretching From Moscow (9,198 km) east to Vladivostok and onto the port station of Nakhodka, the journey taking 8 days from end to end.
Ufa through the eyes of our British governess Adrianna
My experience working as a British governess abroad was awesome. I had just graduated from a master’s degree in the summer of 2018 and felt like doing something different over the summer. I was offered a temporary English governess position in Ufa, which is a city in the south of Russia, just after the Urals. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to go somewhere I’d never heard of and get some experience teaching English abroad.
Samara through the eyes of our British Governor George
I arrived for my year in Samara in September and was able to get the know the city pretty well during my time there. The first place I visited was The Yuri Gagarin Park, I went with the kids I taught and the family’s driver. The park is basically a soviet amusement park full of various rides of dubious safety levels.
Kazan through the eyes of our governor Simon
Uniqueness. This is what sums up this city. Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan. I worked here two years ago and when walking around the city in the Russian winter I quickly realized: “Wow, hey, this Russian city, kind of doesn’t seem very Russian at all!”
Moscow through the eyes of our governor Simon
I’m Simon an English teacher and governor from Bristol in the UK. So firstly, I would say: ”wow!”. The money you can earn is amazing. Not many jobs pay 1,000GBP+ per week, plus pay your rent and even flight to and from Moscow. Don’t be nervous!
Moscow through the eyes of our British Governor Mike
If you are thinking about coming to Moscow to work yet the thought of it is too daunting, stop worrying, pack your bags and get here asap. I have now been living in Moscow (with very limited Russian language skills) for 11 years. I have travelled and worked fairly extensively in other countries. I can honestly say I have found Russian people to be some of the friendliest, most generous and welcoming people I have ever met.
Moscow through the eyes of our Governor-tutor Christopher
Teaching in Moscow has been a very positive experience for me. When I first came to Moscow, I quickly noticed that there is an abundance of opportunity to teach English here, both within Moscow’s ever expanding and thriving educational sector and of course, privately.
Moscow through the eyes of our Governess Leila
Hi, my name is Leila and I'm a governess from London working in Moscow for 2 years now. I have so much to say about this city that I've chosen as my home but I'll try and keep it short.
Saint Petersburg through the eyes of our British governess Adrianna
I spent one year working as a British governess in Saint Petersburg, Russia. This experience was amazing. My main responsibility was a very cute 8-year-old girl and I also occasionally tutored her 16-year-old sister. I was given an amazing, contemporary (the kind that has glass walls and modern furniture) and super comfortable three-bedroom house on the family grounds, a 5-minute walk from their house.
