Summer teaching jobs in Croatia are great! At least mine were. Getting there and travelling around is not complicated- roads are not hugely busy and the airports are easily accessible. As far as I know, neither Russians nor Brits need a visa to visit, so it is extremely convenient in that regard. I worked here with three children, between 3 and 8 years old For them it was a working holiday- some work in the morning and trips and activities from midday until evening. Because it can get hot (certainly in summer months) towards 2pm, it might be better to do some activities in the morning, but there you go.
We lived very close to the area pictured above- in house with a garden and access to the beach area. A fresh water swimming pool makes life a bit easier- swimming in the sea is a bit of a mission for children. There is a plus that the beaches here are mostly pebble and stone, so you don’t get sand in your sandwiches all the time. Particularly in this location, the sports facilities are great- we had tennis classes on these courts. The sea is usually clear and clean which makes for great swimming and snorkelling, plus diving, if you desire.
The best thing about Croatia is travelling around by yacht. It’s always a bit more stressful looking after kids on a boat, but the trips don’t have to be long and the experience is superb. The sea is warm everywhere and there are little restaurants around the islands for you to drop in to for refreshments. There are plenty of attractions inland too, with several large lakes which are amazing to visit. There are usually lots of playgrounds and places for children to play- my impression is that most places are as safe, as long as the children can swim!
All the little towns, with historical architecture, are wonderful for visits. Interspersed with ice-cream parlours, this makes for many relaxed evenings exploring. If you are interested in history, there is plenty of it around the country.
