’m a native Mandarin speaker with several years of teaching and working experience in Mexico, Thailand,
China, USA and Poland. I became interested in early childhood education when I was pursuing my BA degree in
Chinese language and literature (education oriented). As a student of normal university/teacher-training
university, I must be involved into real instructional-learning environment as much as possible to practice my
teaching skills. Therefore, I found a part-time job to teach foreign kids Chinese in a bilingual (CH-EN) school, I
quickly fell in love with this job. Even if after graduation I started to pursue MA and doctoral degree, teaching
at university level, but I still enjoy working as a primary school teacher, governess, nanny, home-teacher very
much!
When I was teaching children, my normal job duties include but not limited to these below: preparing
materials, indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate children’s creative play and learning; designing teaching
plans and a variety of activities to stimulate children’s learning enthusiasm and ensure they are mastering skills
on regular basis; using proper instructional methods to motivate children’s abilities; observing and evaluating
children's performance, behavior, social development and physical health; monitoring children’s interactions
and nurture cooperation; communicating with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress; and
so on.
My university teaching experience can also benefit youth education of middle and high school, because I'm
familiar with what kind of abilities today's universities want to admit, what kind of students today's universities
want to enroll, and how to make senior high-school students adapt to college life in advance.
The character and quality of me which is worth being noted most is that I have very strong passion in
education. I’m always patient, positive and energetic, also good at building and maintaining a safe and
developmentally environment for children. My experience of teaching and working in different countries and
multicultural environment will also be an asset. My students and colleagues come from disparate countries
and districts with diverse cultural backgrounds, I enjoy teaching and working in an environment full of
diversities.
Just like people always say: “To educate is to lead out of confinement, narrowness and darkness.” Foreign
language study can especially expand one’s view of the world and liberalize one’s experiences. As a
professional TCSL (Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language) instructor who has taught students at all
ages and all levels, I increasingly find that my interest lies in early childhood and youth education. For me, it’s
an amazing thing to cultivate children as global citizens from childhood, help them to create more positive
attitudes and less prejudice toward people who are different, watch them to grow up as more flexible and
tolerant people who could penetrate cultural barriers and own an appreciation of cultural diversity. I’m so
proud of what I’m doing now, and I will be very thankful if you could offer me a chance to continue this
significant career. I know that my teaching experience on children and teenagers is limited, but that's exactly
the reason why I want to learn more, be trained more, accumulate more. I truly want to transfer my teaching
career to children/childcare education, I will be extremely grateful if you could offer me this precious
opportunity!
