DBS (CRB)
Criminal DATABASE CHECK (DBS check)
Any verification begins with checking your passport. However, having a British passport does not guarantee that a person is not a fraudster or has not been detected in any illegal or unethical ac-tions against children.
When you entrust your child to a stranger, you must be confident in the reliability of the candidate. That is why we insist that when hiring nannies, governesses and tutors from the UK, they provide documents prooving of their reliability. One of these important documents is the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. Its former name is Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Check.
This document consists of two pages, but you are only interested in the first page, which should have the «none» response in each column.
CRB check includes the following sections:
POLICE RECORDS OF CONVICTIONS, CAUTIONS, REPRIMANDS AND WARNINGS
INFORMATION FROM THE LIST HELD UNDER SECTION 142 OF THE EDUCATION ACT 2002.
The reasons for being included in this list are as follows: charges of sexual harassment of children, violent behavior towards children, child abuse, charges of drug abuse, any offense related to violence (violent crime), including pogroms during demonstrations and football hooliganism.
